Coaching Style
My coaching style centers around coaching the person, not just the player. I take joy in getting to know each player for the unique individuals they are, both on and off the field, considering their roles within their families, schools, and social circles. I am mindful of the challenges and pressures modern youth face, and I approach coaching with a firm yet honest demeanor. I encourage players to be at their best and make the right decisions both on and off the field. My expectations and demands are high and the players must meet them to be part of our team.
Working with the young player
As a coach, I firmly believe that young players thrive and develop best when they are self-motivated and feel a strong sense of belonging to a larger collective group. I prioritize fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where players are empowered to take ownership of their development and work collaboratively towards common goals, creating a positive and growth-oriented team culture.
Training & Matches
Training is the most important part of our team. The concepts of how we play, the mentality and attitude in which we look to convey in a match is all set in the training session. Players must learn to have what it takes to have a top training mentality, and see the reward and consequence of their training habits.
Matches are for demonstration and the enjoyment of the players to put forth what we have learned in training in the most competitive setting. Matches are a great opportunity to affirm our progress as a team and learn from mistakes. Players must learn to be self-driven, resilient, and motivated to compete in match environments, with encouragement and expectations set from the coach. I am firm believer that the coach is not to be the top driving force in how a match plays out, as that should be from the pulse of the team and the players.
Playing Style
We strive to control the opponent and dictate the tempo of the match in both in-possession and out-of-possession phases
Players will learn core principles of possession play- emphasizing a methodical approach in build-up and positional play concepts that will require high technical skills, quick but composed decision making skills under pressure, and high critical thinking
Players will learn basic core principles of team defending and will be expected to understand and execute various defensive tactics to nullify the opponent. This requires a high level of discipline, intelligence, accountability, and focus.
